The Power of Performance: Drawing from our bodies, drawing upon power and performing power

With: Roo Dhissou

Time: 10.30 - 12:30

Roo Dhissou’s arts practice involves hosting other bodies and facilitating workshops, participatory artwork and collaborative making with communities. In order to sustain herself and her body, Roo created an inner God/cyborg being that often allows her to detach from her daily work through powerful performances and gestures.

Through this workshop Roo invited us to create our own ‘Power Being’ to draw upon in times of need and self care, an escape from day to day capitalism and busy lives, a chance to restore the body and its biology through creative practice.

Participants were asked to bring in objects that give them power, this could be something related to our identity, something that sparks joy, provides healing or anything that made us feel powerful.
